kinjal , just for your knowledge read QNA here : http://www.cicnews.com/2011/12/canadian-immigration-questions-answers-david-cohen-4-121166.html
(in this month QNA post you will get answer about Birth Certificate issue)

"Is a birth certificate mandatory for immigration?

While a birth certificate is a preferred method of identification, there are other optional methods depending on your home country if it is not possible to get a birth certificate.

Documentation proving birth must be consistent with what is issued in your country. For example, a secondary leaving certificate, or a national identification card, sometimes in conjunction with a sworn affidavit of your place and time of birth, can be acceptable.

All valid documentation must contain your name, your date of birth, and at least one of your parent's names. "

Are passports are not accepted as proof of date of birth as these are widely accepted in India as proof of DOB.

No. Share your educational docs where DOB is mentioned.

Hi all

Checklist asks for birth certificates. Are these compulsory for principal applicant and spouse. will the passport copy not be considered as a proof of date of birth.can the application get rejected without the birth certificates.
Im an Indian applying with London VO .

Do i need to write an explanation regarding the non -submission of birth certificate and that the passport may be considered as proof of date of birth.

Its good if you can provide Birth Certificate.
Otherwise write a cover letter expalining why dont you have BC and provide maximum proof of DOB i.e Passport,Driving licence, Educational certificate, National identity card if any.
