Best city to live in Canada Huh

Choice-1 : The city where u have Friends/Relatives.

Choice-2 : If u do not know anyone here - Go where your heart takes u.

Choice-3 : Once 'landed', apply for 'jobs' anywhere - Then go where the job takes u.

There couldn't be any other factor/criteria!

I've heart Alberta is best for jobs, but its imposibly cold there. Is Alberta the wealthiest provice at the moment ? Would you recommend landing to other not so famious parts of Canada like Nova Scotia or Yukon for more job opportunities ?

I understand British Columbia is not a good choice for a new comer, because of the unemployment.
Many people in this forum complain about the unempoyment in Canada.
If there is such an unempoyment, why the government is giving so many visas to foreigners ? What is the point of this ? Is it really for the people to go to Canada, lose their savings and come back to their countries ?

Hi Smartstyle,

I have moved to Edmonton, Alberta last month from US with a new job in civil engineering. I got my PR through AINP so alberta was on my target list from before. I would agree that there are more jobs here in Alberta atleast in civil engineering and construction related. I am not sure about other field but as a whole i heard Alberta is a good market. Its not "very" expensive like BC and Ontario that's for sure and salaries here are pretty well to maintain a reasonably good lifestyle.

The winter is very cold here. This weekend it was a nightmare to drive on snow. I have not driven much on snow in US so its a challenge for me but i am getting used to it. But again, this kind of situation does not happen everyday. They do a good job blading the street out of snow. Its cold throughout canada. You will not feel much of a difference when you are at -5 or at -20 degrees C really because they both are cold. You need good winter gears for both temperatures.
