Congrats to everyone that got their visas!

Mine still says in process which began June 2011 and background checks began August 2011. I ordered GCMS notes which took one month and everything looks fine.  Hoping to get a request for a new medical soon.  I will also send another request to order GCMS notes for early April to see if there are any new updates and see what the new due dates are.

Fingers crossed!

Hi Maya, may I ask you if you are still here in Germany waiting or in canada (as tourist)?

We just sent ours in on March 8th. I'm hoping that we'll fall among the "straightforward cases" but than again you never know :/

I'm interested in keeping in touch with the ones who applied around the same time as us, it will give us a better idea of how things are progressing!

Just thought it might be interesting for future applicants.
So my application was received on September 15th and we got sponsorship approval on November 28th, I ordered GCMS Notes, just out of curiosity to see what they are doing with my file. I received the notes today per email and they are from February 9th, about a week before I got my COPR.  Apparently they had everything on Dec 28th and were just waiting for the medical. It says they thought our relationship was bona fide and all the checks were done too. They had to contact the medical office in London to get my medicals and received them after February 9th and then issued the COPR right away. I did the medicals only 2 days before I sent the application, maybe that could be a hold up doing the medicals too late. The other thing is that they didn't doubt our relationship at all and we didn't sent a whole lot of proof, some emails and some pics. My husband also had almost zero income for the requested period and we both had no job at the time of sending the application and that was not an issue either. We did sent a letter from his parents that we could live with them until we got things figured out. In total our application was around 500 gramms and apparently that was enough.
If somebody has any questions feel free to send me a message, I got quite a bit of help from this forum and I would love to help others.

I am the sponsor and I'm here in Canada and my husband resides in Germany so it makes it tougher not being together.  Hopefully we hear back soon!

I am new here and I just wanted to say Hi to everyone,
I'm a German citizen, married to a Canadian, and I'm currently in the process of gathering and preparing all the documents for the Sponsorship Application.. I basically just started, but I hope that it won't take too long, and it's already confusing and overwhelming. But I'm glad I found this forum which already helped me a LOT!!

All the Best,

Welcome to both of you! Good luck with everything.

Venecan, if you've lived in Venezuela I highly recommend you start getting everything ready to ask for Venezuelan Police Clearance yourself and, as soon as your file is sent to Berlin, write to ask to get it yourself (instead of them asking for it as it says on the site).

They told me to get it and that delayed things for about 2 weeks, but it is quicker than just waiting for that to happen.

Took me about 3 months to get all the forms and attachments ready .. Make a checklist in Excel for each item and track the status of progress for each document.

Thanks Mel!!!
Take it in to consideration, my wife is already in Canada, but she will return to Venezuela in September, so at that time we will process the Police certificate if that really helps!
So, at this moment we have to wait until CIC answer!
Regards!!

Thanks for your advice! I hope to get everything ready in under 1 month, but now I'm getting nervous.. Which part took you the longest?

No prob, Venecan. I got this recommendation from someone else, and I was skeptical at first. But as soon as the file landed in Berlin, I sent the question and they answered the next day that I should get it myself. It takes about 2-3 weeks between getting it in the Ministerio de Justicia in Caracas and getting it translated and sent.

In theory, your file will be in Berlin earlier than September, so it would probably be good that you start finding out what to do and possibly how you can do the process (through family or a 'gestor') before that time so you can get the approval earlier. I had about a week-two delay because of this, otherwise, would have been even earlier.

Ok, we did it, we demand a gestor to request the police certificate, so, we will send to germany once they ask for this document!!!
Thanks for your advise!
