Hello All in Beirut Group, I am new here and want to find out how long is taking to get a permanent resident visa. I got my file number in mid July 2011 from Damascus and now I guess my file is in Beirut. I will try to get a visiting visa do you think they will give me??? Good luck for all of us 
Hi Anoushka, welcome to our forum. Well as we can see its between 8-13 months depending on the situation of each case. My PR papers were recvd on July 4, but stayed in Ottawa. Are you sure that your file was transferred to Damascus? If yes, I beleive that all the old files are transferred to Beirut, and the new ones are on their way. Beirut VO (visa office) is still in training for few more weeks before they start working on files. Nshallah '7eir, we are all waiting patiently to hear some news. We have few lebanese ppl going to the embassy and as soon as we have answers, we will update you in this forum.
As to applying to visitor visa, by all means you can try, we have had few cases where some applied and were interviewed but waiting for the answer. One case in Beirut, the other in Amman.
Ottawa_2010, pls update me if your wife got the visitor visa...

Hi Musab, welcome to our forum. You can see on the side of my name when i filed my PPRs. Basically 8 months of waiting for nothing, they didnt process my file because they were not sure where it will be sent. and this is back in June 2011. How abt you, when did u send ur files...hopefully we will have more ppl joining ius here. We have few from Amman, and nshallah they will share their time line.
I really hope that we will hear good news, and as you said Musab, there isnt a lot of Lebanese, Iraquis, and ppl from Amman. Maybe its good for us, meaning we will get PPRs soon.
