Hi all,

The CIC (Mississauga) have sent my immigration application for my wife to Hong Kong b/c she is from the south of China. But looking at the processing time in HK (19mo), it seems long compared to Beijing (5mo). Should i request they send my application to Beijing? If so, how do i proceed and how long will it take to make the change?

Thanks, Darin

I think HK is the VO for southern China including Guangdong so it is the correct visa office. This is probably why they are so busy (they also are responsible for applications for Taiwan).

I don't think you can request they transfer your app to another office as BJ is responsible for probably northern China. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

Thanks a lot, we will have to wait for it then. Is the 19mo mentioned on the CIC website correct? Plus does anyone have a list of questions that the interviewer may ask?

Thanks, Darin

Thanks for the reply guys.

I have made the request to have our file send to Beijing. Takes a month for them to obtain a reply. It may be futile but i have to try.

On ground of redoing the medical test (valid for one year only) and workload from HK which add delays.

yeah, these aren't reasons for a transfer. a re-location to northern china might have been more promising - if at all. but nice try....  Cheesy
