if you have never travelled internationally then  it goes like that...but it may differ from country to country but most things are the same

1) pass through customs

2) screen your baggaes

3) check in at flight counter (show your tickets, passport, visa , luggage booked, keep hand luggage in your hand, boarding card given)

4) immigration (will check your passports, visa, stamp your passports, ask some questions where you going and why)

go to departure lounge. finally board the flight

from the philippines, usually

1. if you have an e-ticket, you need to go to the your flight carrier's office/counter to have your actual plane ticket printed.
2. the guard at the gate will check your passport and ticket to make sure that your flight is for that day. those with a flight on the same day are the only ones allowed inside
3. as you enter the terminal, you need to load all your luggage at the conveyor of the x-ray scanner. you need to remove shoes, jewelry and anything in your pockets then pass through a metal detector. you may also be frisked
4. then you check in at your airline
5. proceed to Philippine Travel Authority counter to pay the terminal fee and if applicable, the airport tax (if you buy from a travel agent then it's already paid and you already have the certificate but if you bought your ticket online, you need to pay the tax*)
6. after this, you go to the immigration counter where you will fill up something i think, i can't recall. they will check your passport and visa/COPR and also ensure that you have attended PDOS (by checking if there's a CFO sticker attached to your passport)
7. before you are let into the waiting area, your carry-on (hand carry as we pinoys refer to it) bag will be checked once again for any items that are not allowed to be carried into the plane.
8. so now you just stay in the waiting area and wait for your flight's boarding time.

*Terminal Fee is Php750
Philippine travel tax Php 1,620 for adults and Php 810 for children but you need to secure a Reduced Travel Tax Certificate first , processing fee for this is Php 200.
If you want to avoid hassle during the day of your flight, you can pay the travel tax at the DOT Building in TM Kalaw or at NAIA TErminal 3 (8-11am only) in advance or you can purchase airline tickets from a travel agent.
