I don't think there is a basic salary.

It really depends on the sector/type of company/benefits/etc

You can Google the averages: http://www.payscale.com/research/CA/Job=Software_Engineer_%2f_Developer_%2f_Programmer/Salary/by_City

As  jamesbond mentioned Payscale.com is a good site for assesing the Salaries. Salary depends on exp, field of work, skills etc

Jobs are tough to come without Canadian experience and it is lot of struggle to find a job in your field

Yes, it is hard to get a job without Canadian experience , how do we get the experience , if they do not give us the Chance then. Unless you have the chance, then can you have the Canadian experience.

My friends have also complained to me about the Canadian experience thing. The truth is we do not sill experience, you can only get it by working.

Then you get the point:
If you need to work to get the Canadian experience, then you are not in a position to demand a specific salary. So you can't ask "what is the basic salary?" because that does not apply to you.
A good example is that of a law graduate :If he is wishing to become a barrister then he has to agree to be paid peanuts while working with a senior lawyer to learn the trade.

As per above replies there are no fixed wages or salary for specific field people "Thats True", but from my relatives and friends salary and as per they are working in IT field I would like to say if you hired by company directly then you will get good pay as per your experience and education, my relatives and friends working under NOC 0213 and some not working under any NOC as per them they are enarning I calculate avg. Cad $47000 / Year (CAD $47k/annum) is minimum salary they get it.
my one friend he is BE computer from India, Work experience 3years in the USA on H1B, 2years in India after graduation with MCSE MCSA MCITP, CCNA right now he is earning Cad$ 82k / Year this is the good salary direct hired by company, his company have 1500 employees and reputed company in the Canada. direct hired means no agency or consulting services in between you and company.
my cousine is Microbiology MLT now Nurse her salary is Cad $78k / year, she married with indian born canadian citizenship holder, she done her nurse course (3years) from Canada, working since last 1year, so her nurse experience is only for 1year, she will earn good money in future I guess...

To get a job in the same profession, even if a person with 10+ years of job experience in other country, the Canadian employers will usually look for his CANADIAN JOB experience and history in Canada. As other members mentioned the remuneration always depends on the employer's discretion considering the candidate's job related backgrounds. There is no standard basic salary system but can expect an hourly rate approx.. ranging from $15/- to $30/- for the beginners before tax deduction. Usually in the beginning people try to get in to any suitable job for survival and try to look for better positions.

Very good point. The main thing is to remain solvent at all times to avoid sinking into depression while trying to get your footing in a new country. Especially for those who are leaving good jobs behind.

http://www.workingincanada.gc.ca/fcro/report-eng.do?area=9219&noc=2171&province=35&action=final&display=wage

the figures are from HRSDC but it may not actually apply to immigrants. As newcomers to Canada, I would say we are on the same league as new graduates who don't have work experience and hence, can only expect entry-level salary IF we are lucky to get a job in our field of expertise.

Seniors please let me know if a person get monthly salary of say around 3000 $ then how much tax will be deducted from this amount? so finally what is the take home salary? With this salary how one can surive with his family being cost of living is high in toronto

I could see many speculations and experiences here. Good. This is what had been my experiences so far. (both as a interviewer and interviewee)

There are a few things a company/interviewer sees. Of those main things are Communication, Technical Skills, Whether you are a right fit for the company and is the company the right fit for you. Just having certifications or degrees DO NOT qualify and not having DO NOT disqualify a candidate. Certification is just a final ice-breaker!! (may be, i have not seen it yet)

So, when they say CANADIAN experience, the real reason is that you understand the Culture, Language and Meanings of all these. Communication is 50% verbal-language and 50% body language. People coming to Canada, should mingle with the crowd with both these. In my culture, it is bad to say No if someone offers something, while in Canada it is bad to say yes, when you should have said no. There are these subtle things that one has to learn.

These things, not necessarily will make you Canadian, but you will have a better chance to understand the real meaning when some native English speaker says, "that got *censored word*ized" and not take it like what it would be back home. (back home the very mention of the word *censored word* could get you killed! but in English, the real meaning is "impure")

People who has experience in Europe (English speaking parts) or in US can get jobs easily than others. (of-course, they have to prove that they are worth it i.e communication)

Other than that, salaries, it depends on what you want. Note one more point, almost all jobs pay within a range. So don't keep hoping jobs every 2 yrs, that would prove that you will jump again, and recruiters will  be reluctant.

All the Best.
