Hi all members

As the Canadian immigration minister said they will reduce the backlog
of old applicants. Is it reducing or the same ?
Any information?

The backlog is increasing as every 1-2 years a new priority list comes out and all applicants before that are pushed into the backlog list.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/annual-report2010/section2.asp#part2_1

As of March 31, 2010, the number of people in the backlog of federal skilled workers—those who submitted applications prior to February 27, 2008—had been reduced by over 40 percent; CIC is well on track to achieving a 50-percent reduction by 2013. The total federal skilled worker inventory—those received both before and after February 27, 2008—has been reduced by 16 percent.

50% before 2013 is not a big achievement of CHC.

but what I got now is nothing yet since 2006, and if I get an application refusal, that would be in the negative for me. so nothing minus  6 years and thousands of dollars.

From my perspective, the current paste the numbers of new applications are slowing down reaching all Visa offices, and they will stop completely after 120 or 130 days from now since many June 25th applicants already received there AOR.
when all 1st AOR receivers are done with Documentations submission VO will have free hands and  start working on the backlog in addition to few new applications from the post June Applicants.
Logically this is the only way I can see it to reduce the backlog any input or other opinion?

Hmm, after reading the website once again, from the above,  Logically,  this will actually mean that if they achieved 40 percent reduction in backlog by 31 March, 2010  and they intend to achieve a total of 50 percent reduction by 2013, then that will mean they will process only 10 percent of applications during the remaining 3 years, isn't it or am I missing something?  If that is true, then this will imply that the remaining 50 percent of applications submitted prior to 28 February 2008 will still be waiting for processing in 2013?

Anybody with another opinion?

40% OF 600000 CLEARED TILL NOW,MEANS 240000 PA
50% OF 600000 TARGETED BY 2013           300000PA
DIFFERENCE = 60000PA IN THREE YEARS
MEANS 20000PA EACH IN 2011,12,13
THIS IS SUFFICENT NUMBER TO MAINTAIN THE TIME LINES OF 90 MONTHS
APPLICATIONS UPTO IST HALF OF 2004 MAY EXPECT TO GET MEDICALS IN 2011.

HAPPY DIWALI TO ALL.

No it is not same as ever............... rather it is getting worse than before. Backlog of pre-feb 2008 cases are doomed for another 2-3 or even 4 years before they will start porcessing them.... this is evident form the standard replies applicants are getting these days.

This is simply because they thinks the last to come is to be served first and not the other way round as the rest of the world does it.
