Background Verification

Hello,

I have questions regarding background verifications for outland visa spousal processing to estimate timeline.

Q1 If Immigration officer wants to verfiy for background check in other countries that applicant indicated in the application, does Immigration officer have to use only CSIS or have to contact the country directly (embassy/consulate)?

Does this means that if CSIS is done & submit the result to CIC that the end of their background checks?

Q2 Please Confirm: Immigration Officer only do background checks & not asked for Police clearance on countries visited for more than 6 months, right?

The reason I'm asking this is my husband indicated on his travel form that he went to Ukraine (Hungary-Ukraine Border) various 1 day trips to buy cheap goods (food & drinks).

I'm worried that they may ask for PCC or perhaps do a background verification to Ukraine which will delay processing time.
