Hello I'm an American living in Canada with my wife who is a Canadian citizen. i lived in Canada in the past for about 8 months, and then i moved back to the united states, and now I am  back in Canada. . I am pretty sure i need a background check for both the US and Canada. what i want to know is if that will effect my application, because i dont think i was supposed to stay that long in Canada. any thoughts?

Firstly you won't need a pc for Canada unless they request one.  They do their own.   You'll only need the FBI and one for any other country you've resided in for more than 6 months.   Secondly your overstay of the 2 months was corrected when you left Canada and will not effect your application.
