Hi everybody,

Please any one explain what is background checks?. It is more than a year passed after the Immigration Application was filed completely with Police Clearance Certificates. Now The CIC says that "your application is for review with an Officer and pending for background checks". What does it mean?.

The police clearance certificates are different than background checks - the clearances show that you don't have any criminal convictions.  Background checks are about determining whether there is anything in your history (determined by investigating your schooling, work background, clubs, associations, etc.) that might indicate that you or your family members pose a threat to Canadian safety or security.
