I completed the medical exam in first week of Nov, 2010. I sent two emails to CHC,London regarding the passport request and they replied my application is currently undergoing a routine background checks. Once those results are received, application will be ready to be finalised.

Can anyone clarify
1. What type of check CHC conduct during background check?
2. Why this check is time consuming?

N.B: If CHC only verify the police clearance certificate, it should not take a long time. A friend of mine received passport request after two weeks of medical exam from the London ofiice in March 2008.

Many thanks.

Be patience dear. we got our MR request 6 months later after sending full documents. Also got PPR 4.5 months later after sending medicals. No need to send vigorous e-mails to them frequently. They are handling so many applications. case to case vary, no need to compare your case with each other. Please wait and I opine that soon you will get good news.

For background issue you can follow the following link. I think you will be able to understand why its taking more time.

Agreed with Tonucmi.

Background checks are time consuming. In fact, CIC contacts police and intelligence departments in countries of origins and countries of residence of more than 6 months. It's only when these agencies respond, the CIC can then proceed with your app.

Let's hope to see faster processing now.

Cheers

To add some more info - the more you had traveled in past has more impact on your background checks. as the number of countries you stayed in (for more than 6 months) increases background check gets multiplied. Also if you have lived any of the blacklisted countries then you will be scrutinized vigorously.

Dear Deshpandeji,

thanks for the info. I did not travel any other countries apart from United Kingdom in my whole life.

 @  Mohan Joshi,

if you have not traveled to any other country than UK then you are saved from the hassles of thorough background checks. As mentioned by our Captain in one of his posts, the more you had traveled your background checks will be more time consuming.

 @  Qorax,

well said Captain, "some more" would normally include those countries which were on Bush's radar but he could spare much time to destroy them. these are the countries especially from African region.
