Her niece is only 12 yrs old, do they do background checks on children???

Hi

Yes background, but not security.  The background is to determine that she is actually an orphan,.

Thanks PMM. I was hoping that you reply. Also, do you know how long will it take for the background checks to be completed.  Again thanks.

It depends on the country, the quality of the documents. If the death certificates for the parents were issued at the time of death or shortly after and can be verified then it should be fairly rapid.  If they were issued a long time after death, then it will be a lengthy process verifying their authenticity depending on the country.  Also the quality of the documents to show the child is actually the niece.

Thank you PMM for your knowledgable response.  It's very much appreciated.  Smiley
