my daughter and i are moving to winnipeg under the PNP next month. praying hard that we'd be able to successfully settle and establish ourselves there.

anyways, i am hoping that in 2 years i'd be established enough to be able to sponsor my sister and her two kids and bring them over to CA.  the thing is, her eldest child has hypotonic autism (not the type with the tantrums, but the low-energy type and, unfortunately, non-verbal type). will this medical condition of my nephew be an obstacle to their application?

actually, a few years back, she tried to lodge an general stream immigration application through an immigration consulting agency. however, when they found out about my nephew's condition, the consultant said her application bid would most likely be denied because of this.

would it still be the same case even if this time her application would be through the provincial nomination program?

It depends on what kind of cost the health care would potentially have because of him.  Some people with Down's syndrome children have been accepted after having extra medical examinations to prove that their children would not be excessive demand.  Other people have appealed and gotten in after having established a fund to take care of the needs of the child for life (only an option if you have that kind of money).  Anyway, depending on the disability of the child, there is a possiblility to be accepted.

The doctor will see at the medical that they are not average for their age and will likely order a report from a specialist.  The specialist will say something about what kind of support they will need in the future and what their prognosis is.  If their costs to Canadian healthcare are estimated to be over a certain limit, you may be denied.  You can appeal with more doctors reports or show that you have set aside a fund to deal with their needs without the aid of health care.

Thanks Leon...but do you think I should tell the doctor that they are on Ritalin? My main concern is their speech delay because this is obvious. They are not the hyperactive ones...
