Hello Everyone,

My wife and I are planning to do our landing next week at Windsor tunnel. I have some questions regarding the process.

1. Do we need to provide the good to follow list while doing our landing formalities? We are planning to move to Calgary next June/July so would like to provide the detailed list then.

2. I have a valid h1 stamped but my wife has transferred to H1 from L1 but does not have a valid stamp in the passport except valid I-94. Can we use AVR?

3.I am planning to give my friends address for the time being till we move permanently, is that OK.

Please let me know some details regarding the above, much appreciated.

Regards,

#1. I do not know much about it.
#2. As far as I know she can use AVR if she does not try to get her H1b stamping in Canada and return with in 30days (by road only?).
#3. They ask you address only if you apply for PR cards by telling them you are moving there permanently at that time. I read that few people are applying for PR cards using friend's address and returning to US. I do not know if that is allowed or not.

thank you Sri19

I have the same scenario but have not got much inputs on pt 3. On some occasions, I read that they refused PR cards and told that they can apply only when they come permanently. Not many people contributing their experiences or maybe there arent many planning around this time

Hi,

We completed our Landing procedure at Detroit Windsor Tunnel and came back the same day using AVR. The procedure was simple and easy. Posts in this forum helped a lot.

Canada Immigration and customs took about 20-25mins total and SIN application took about 10mins.

Back to US at border security, IO looked at our passports asked few questions about place of living and work and that's it..everything completed in 2 mins.

Thanks to all in this forum for sharing your experiences.

Regards,
