Our In-Canada file was transferred from Vegreville to the local office and we haven't got the first stage approval mail yet (It's been 6 months since we applied). However, the officer handling our file has called and talked to us a couple of times. Does this mean we might be called for an interview soon?

I don't know but it sounds plausible.  Maybe they are suspicious of something in your application or maybe they just pulled you out randomly.
