My husband has been in Canada for many years with no status.  A warrant for his arrest was issued but he was released to me and is to remain with me.  He has no work permit and his passport has expired.

I need to know the best way to get his PR confirmed.  How long it may take and if its better that he go home, if thats even possible.

The "big pickle" tha I am facing is that I am no longer in love with him, but we have a child together and I want to make sure that he will be in their life.  So I also want to know what happends if we are not living together and I I can transfer his release responsibilities to someone else???

Thank you.

I feel you need some professional lawyers help to deal with this kind of a situation (effectively and acuratly) as its a little complicated. Sorry!

If he was here illegally for many years while married to you, why did you not sponsor him for PR?  Now the question is, if you have separated, you will obviously not be sponsoring him in the future, how is he planning to get PR?  Do you have anybody you want to transfer the release responsibilities to?  Not that I know if it can be done but if it can, who is supposed to take it over?
