Area of trianing on CSQ

Hi everybody,

I have Master degree in computer science.It is 2 years degree after Bachelor degree Does it fall in priority list in quebec ? or can I apply for CSQ with my computer science degree ? I don't know much about CSQ. Is there any demand list which we can find in Federal skill worker ? and how does the points are given from area of training catagory. Does computer science has got  points from area of training section or not. there are computer science in the list but it is 3 years bach degree.

I got the table, but in this table computer science bac 3 is mention. It doesn't include Master in computer science 2 years. and 2 years before when I applied for csq they didn't give me points from area of training. I was rejected. So I'm confuse about it. and do you know about pass mark ? for double it is 57. and points from children aren't calculate for passmarks. when you got passmarks then only children points are calculate? is it true or not . in my case it had happend

I'm not sure if they give points for training in MSc Computer Science. I hope that they would in your case.

For applicant with spouse, you have to score a minimum of 50 points for employability without counting children and financial self-sufficiency. The 50 points is the first cutoff.

If you have a minimum of 50 points, add points for children (4 points for each child 12yrs or younger) and financial factor (1 point). If you have a minimum of 57 points, you're application will be successful for processing. 57 points is the passing score.

I'm expecting this type of answer from other friends but they all ignore my question. your link is very much helpful to me. I'm searching this information since long time and I hope it is reliable.
I think cutoff point had changed in oct 2009. when I applied before 2007. I had score 59 points with children and self finance point but they worte me 4+1 points were not add in cutoff points and I was told that I had 2 points less for cutoff. I scored 55 points without children and self finance points.

That link to the selection factors table is found on the Quebec Immigration website and it's the most current. It's well-hidden, so it's very easy to miss. One has to do a lot of research on their website to find the correct information.

Do I get 12 points from my Master degree? eventhough my degree aren't in prefered area of training list.

Satya, I think only an immigration officer might be able to answer your last question. To get 12 points it really depends on which university cycle your diploma finds place. Once I saw a chart about these cycles, but that was really long time ago, so I cant find it anymore. If your diploma finds place in Universitaire 2ième cycle 1 an ou + ou 3ième cycle, then you get 12 point, but as I said you have to find out what 2ieme cycle is. And don't forget that French always helps to get more points! Good luck!

what is university cycle. I never heard of that. in quebec points system, they wrote 12 points for master degree. so I expect 12 points for my master of computer science. Is it true or not ?

Satya, I am also not very familiar with these university cycles, but one thing I remember. Once I found a chart that showed diplomas obtained in my home country and their equivalent with Quebec diplomas, there I saw which field in which cycle finds place. Now as I said this was only for my home country. I am suspecting that they have made these charts for every country, because education system is different everywhere, so I guess you should try to find if they ever made one for your country. I am saying that just because I have seen people from my home country that had a master degree and still got 10 points for education. I do not want to discourage you, but lets try to count your points with the worst case scenario and see what happens.

Actually last time I got 13 points from my master degree. I have 18 years education. but this was old points system. Now I hope I'll get 12 points. but I don't know points from about area of training . Last time they didn't get any points from area of training .
