Do these questions point to the same date ? I am a bit confused .. From the Spouse-Sponsorship forms, for the Sponsor:

Which date you became a PR (landed immigrant) ?
When you got sponsored ?

IMM 5540, Question 9 and 10.

9. Are you a naturalized Canadian or permanent resident of Canada ? (Yes)

- On what date did you become a permanent resident: XXX

10. Where you yourself sponsored to come to Canada ? (Yes)

- When ? XXX

Not sure what date question 10 wants to have ?
- Is it date of permanet residency
- Date when the sponsor (my wifes parents) were accepted as sponsors of their children (family immigrated together at the same day based on PR from work sponsorship of the father)
- Any other date ?

Also, what do you do when a date is not kown anymore ?

IMM 5540, Question 9 and 10.

Exactly the same date twice!!! From Record of Landing/Confirmation of Permanent Residence or PR Card... I'm sure you MUST have at least one of these documents. If not, you can always apply and get a certified copy of ROL/CPR from CIC (at a $30 fee). Or try and phone them and ask if they can tell you this date from your immigration file with them. They will ask for your Client ID though for identification purposes.

Here's the official guide to completing this form:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp

Question 9

Check ‘‘Yes'' or ‘‘No'' to indicate if you are a naturalized Canadian or a permanent resident.

If you answer ‘‘Yes'', provide the date on which you became a permanent resident.

Question 10

Check ‘‘Yes'' or ‘‘No'' to indicate if you were sponsored to come to Canada.

If you answer ‘‘Yes'', provide the date on which you became a permanent resident and the type of sponsorship (i.e. spousal, parents, dependent child, etc.)

Yes, seems redundant, but you never know, it might simplify their processing in some way???
