Hi guys, I am new to this fourm couple of quick questions, I applied for my wife in April but haven't recieved any file number yet. Is there any way of checking the status without the file number? I know it takes up to 90 days for them to process the request. Just trying to fimilarize myself with the entire process, once i get the file number does the approval for step1 happen within couple days? Thank you.
Hey Mandeep2012, Welcome to the forum! unless you had some previous dealings with CIC ( previous PR, citizenship process etc), you won't have a file number until you get either an AOR or the approval from CIC. once you get that, then your file gets transferred to your VO, and they take over from there - the VO procedures are very different depending on where you are from. Guys Just received an AOR from CIC. I am surprised  congrats! I wish that was me... :-) but it seems consistent, a few people from the end of May have received AOR recently. Enjoy! Sweden |

Everyone has been complaining that CIC should send an AOR in the beginning and now they start and everyone gets mad. Sorry April and most of May missed it (me too) but it doesn't mean they're going to get approval first. Better not! I think it's a good change of procedure. |

yes you are right canadiangirl78 because half the worry is in fact if the actually got the application...at least with an AOR you know it is in their hands!!!!! and totally right about the approval......probably with the new system they are scanning the barcodes and an automated AOR is generated......once it is totally consistent it will be nice for those applying in the future!!! |

hello guys i am new on this thread, my application was received on 3 april 2012, today when i called cic, the agent told me she has information only till 2 april, but when i used their automated service and put my eight digits PR card number and year of birth a automatic message came that my application was received on 3 april 2012, but didnt receive any email about AOR yet

when did these barcodes come in to place? when did they change the applications?
Awhile ago but I can't remember when they were required. February I think. If you didn't use the new forms you might have to send them in before approval. |
