Restructuring of federal employee's and the immigration system as a whole, we applied at a very bad time and I fear it will only get worse. There is something else about various immigration changes in the paper everyday. I read today that 400 of the 200,000 people that got thier applications for work permits returned are now taking a class action suit against the governement, I also read that there has been protests in India, the middle east and China (fencesitter mention one in HK), protesting the closing of visa offices. They have also just cut the program that assists with schools abroad and brings students to Canada. I know this has nothing to do with sponsorship, but its all the same agency and with this much hoopla going on at CIC and people losing thier jobs, I can say that I am not suprised by the current state, I am angry, but not suprised.

All we can do is remain patient and hope to hell they dont do anything with sponsorship, since they have hit almost every other area of immigration. try to put your mind on other things and let the time pass, there is nothing we can do to speed it up so may as well take the ride and hope for the best ! And trust me, my fiance and I are almost at the one year mark of not seeing eachother in person, so my nerves are shot, my patience seems to have long since run out, but like i said, we cant make the wheel turn ourselves, so patient I will try to be, siiigghhhhhh

That is awful. It makes me so because this is CANADA! We are a country of immigrants. We really did apply at the worst time possible, clearly!!

Oh missmymexi Sad I feel for you! It must be very difficult to go through this without your fiance by your side. When you look at the whole picture, 2 months extra of waiting is not much, but its the principal of things, its just not right.

Hey guys most of you are hitting the low point...we've been there most of us prior to you guys...I know it's hard!
If I could give you guys any pointers ( not being too far in front)
1- Forget about CIC website until thusday at 2
2-U know how strong your case is stop doubting yourselves.
3-This forum helps us all to vent and get our frustrations out from people who are going through the exact same thing...some of us are with our loved ones some aren't...let me tell you if you're with your husband and you have to support him financially as he doesn't work it's an even bigger stress on your life sometimes...new country, no friends, no independance, lack of energy, depression etc can and do happen. We are here to help eachother out...so go ahead VENT...when you vent some will be in positive mode and other days others will be! That's how we balance each other out and get through this!
You don't want to share everything on a forum send a PM to someone!

But most of all think of yourselves in the process take the time to take a breather, read a book...everything will fall into place..

Good Luck guys!

Proof of Citizenship only takes 2-3 months. It was pretty fast for us and they even had to ask me for additional documents. Fencesitter got his in 3 months.

Yep.  I was originally told it would take more than a year to get my son's proof of citizenship.  A little over 3 months later and he got it.  I included a statement about this in my sponsor application, praising CIC for being efficient...

The latest update is not surprising...they're probably working past that date...and it's still not nearly as bad as what the January applicants had to go through...so I am hopeful.

The London VO processing for Proof is 7 months, plus the first Canada stage, 3 months. So sadly we have a long wait. Sad
Thanks everyone for your words. I apologise for my depressing tone yesterday. I have woken up in a positive state and look forward to another week passing on by. Wink
As for the update FS is correct. It may say the 7th, but a lot of mid Febs have approval and yesterday there was a 21st! Maybe CIC have kept it the same to allow the slow agents to catch up with the faster ones! Tongue  Tongue

To all that wait: Nothing is good or bad. Everything just is. Our view of things make it either good or bad. We have the choice of the type of attitude. Waiting for 1.5 years to reunite seems little to being apart in war torn country without any news of each other. Stay positive and soon it will be our turn to cheer our sponsorship approval. Everything comes to an end one day.
