My application's status went from "Application Received" to "In Process" around July 15th.

Bit of a confusing update in the mail about twenty minutes ago. We got an acknowledgement of receipt (with the file number I needed for the access to information request last week). I say it's confusing because on the CIC website they say "We received xxxx's application for permanent residence on May 17, 2011."

I suppose now they've opened the file....

my e-cas status"application recieved on june 23" is same from last few months...i hv submitted my passport on jul 12,  now i m bit worried.......should i contact them regarding my status.............................n if yes,then how should i contact?....i will thankful for your valueable suggestions

Well, I checked my ecas today and it still set application received June 6th.  My husband (my sponsor) checked his ecas and it said Buffalo had received my application on June 6th and started processing it on June 9th.

I'm wondering why my ecas wasn't updated about processing?  It's been over 3 months of "in process" apparently and I didn't get my email stating that my application was received June 6th until August 6th :0  All the time lines seem so wacky

Don't worry, many of us seem to go through the same maddening thing. One thing I can add about my case is that the VO in Tokyo has had our application since May 17 and only now sent the AOR. The AOR also said that they aim to complete the review within six months of "receipt". I'm hoping against hope that that's six months from May 17 but who knows.

It's a nonsensical and aggravating way of running an immigration department. It makes Japan's system look downright perfect - when I arrived in Japan with my "Engineer's" visa I could have health care and start working right away. It was a two month process. That said, PR was a 5 or 10 year process, but who cares when you can already live, work, and travel from the country....

I've been reading the boards and it looks like quite a few March applicants through Buffalo received their PPRs in the past few days.  Hopefully us April people are around the corner.

As a Canadian, I find this system a) appalling and b) embarrassing. The Japanese manage immigration better than this, and they have *zero* interest in immigrants.
