I 'm new member , i have an importatnt question about expiration date for IELTS. I've passed my ielts in 26 september 2009 and i have about 2 month for it's validation. I filed my application in 26 april and i haven't got my file number yet. Should i pass another IELTS exam or not ?

It takes about 2-3 months at CIO, get all your documents new and file as soon as your receive 120 days notice. I dont think you require another IELTS

Sorry one more question re this.  The new visa specific rules require IELTS whereas under the rules prior to JUNE 26 2010 native English speakers could send a written submission.  I was going to send this written submission to the London Visa Office as per the rules in effect when my application was received by CIO Sydney.  It will really hold up my application if this is no longer possible?? It does seem unfair to expose me to new requirements not in effect at the time I initially applied!

Hi Katie,

1) Checklist requirement is the current one that is available online now.
2) The applications that were received before 10th April can still send in their supporting proofs for proficiency in English.
3) Post 10th April, VO will not ask for any additional proofs regarding Language skills. Which means that your application is at the mercy of VO as he can award you 16 (max) or 0 ...that is his judgement and he can use his power of "substituted evaluation".

Applicants are not taking any chances with their applications now. Mostly people are taking the IELTS to be on the safe side.

The choice is yours.

Hi yas,

IELTS scores are valid for 1 year as you know already.

It should be valid on the date it will be received at your visa office. I do not know at what stage you are at collecting your full documents so as Explorer suggested keep all the other docs ready and as soon as you receive the AOR, mail your full docs along with the IELTS score.

But you will be a better judge to decide on the timeline... just remember it should be valid when received at Visa office (not the day delivered but the day entered into their system)

I was born in Scotland and English is the only language I've ever spoken and all my education up to Masters level has been in English, I am currently employed as a police officer in uk but i guess there's always a chance.........head melt!!!

:-) Yes, thanks again, we'd be lost without you! i'll probably book a date anyway and then decide......... although it does seem crazy and i'll stress out waiting too as i really don't want to wait - it takes forever as it is! Wow I need some patience! I wonder is anyone else going to risk the written submission??
