Guys, when submitting the certificate of employment and reference letter, do they need to be recent? mine was done Nov of last year. and also, what if my boss wont issue me a reference letter since im quite new to this job? can i submit the cert of employment instead? thank you so much for all your help. good luck to everyone

Hi annie,

It is not mentioned how old the reference letters should be but they do ask for "Recent reference lettere'.
Email your Boss with a request for a current reference letter. The reference would also mention the benefits and the hours of your job. Certificate of Employment does not reflect "Experience for your job done". VO asks for "reference letters" to check if you have sucessfully done the jobs while you were employed.

In case your Boss mentions that he can not provide reference letter since you are new, the attach this email from your boss to VO. Which will show your efforts to collect a recent ref letter. Secondly, you could check with the HR of your dept ,if they could provide you with a letter.

Hi Everybody, I think i have a good news for all those whose application is returned, or may be returned due to some document error.

One of my friend whose application was received on 8th April 2010, got his rejection letter today. He forgot to attach spouse background declaration. His NOC is still in the current list.

CIO has asked him to deposit the required document with rejection letter. The rejection letter has a sticker which has a barcode and no printed on the letter

Does this mean application returned can be resend under the same rules

Hi,

I believe he can resend his application. Whether his application falls under the old rule, according to my understanding, since there is a Reference # beginning with BXXXXX , which is what an AOR # would look like... he is eligible for old rules. But it is better to check with CIO on this because this situation is still very new and it is better to double check with the authorities to be sure.

I already did.  I gave the agent my full name and birthdate. Not on their system yet. But I am billed already in my credit card. thats weird.

It is not weird. Even though your Credit card was charged, it will take a while to enter this information onto their system. Be happy that your Credit was charged... you are moving forward.

a) Should English translation of any document be also notarized? As per the visa guide it says:
    - the English or French translation of the document
    - A certified copy of the document by Notary public
    - an affidavit from the person who completed the translation

b) I have reference letter from my employer but everything is written on one paper (official company letter pad, signed and stamped in current dates) which has following format:
   - 1st Paragraph: My name, designation, benefits (salary package), job duration (years)
   - 2nd Paragraph: All work responsibilities
   - 3rd Paragraph: Couple of lines for work appreciation

What else should be written on these letters? Should they also show number of hours? One of my empolyer's letters says like "Full Time Employee" and the second employer's letter just says "employee". Is it fine?

Please help.

Hi Navali,

1. Yes, your 'Translated document should be notarized'.

2. The translator should provide an affidavit. Otherwise your document is null and void. This is basically to check the authenticity of the translator. As a Translator he should have some documentation to prove that he is indeed a translator. If you have used the services of a company that has the business of translating documents then add his credentials in your cover letter just to make your application more strong. Though in the Affidavit these credentials should be mentioned.

3. Your reference letter should include the # of hrs and any additional benefits  (like medical or housing allowance etc and some VO require them in $ amount). The number of hrs is important as in Canada the full time workers have working hrs between 40-45 hrs/week (It could be 38hrs-45hrs min... I am not sure). So they would like to check if you are capable of contributing so many hrs at work.

4. Has it been mentioned in the Reference letter that all the job responsibilities have been performed by you. Because, there is a difference between alloting you job responsibilities and it is a totally different matter if you have actually done them satisfactorily. VO is checking for the portion in the Reference letter which mentions that " XX has successfully done the following job duties".

First of all -Please do not post the scanned copy of the letter that has your Immigration file # on the Forum. That is highly sensitive document and meant only for you EYES.
As I said earlier, the application had the chance to be evaluated as per the old rule.

i have two questions kindly help me in this

1  for bank statement i requested my father to put amount in my salary account
    same was done by him the money was transfered on 8th of july 2010 will this statement
    work as my previous statements shows only salary transictions. will it be better to get an
   affidavit from father stating that he is giving amount for my sattlement in canada and he
   will not ask this money back.
2. do i have to attest degrees only or i have to attest transcripts also from HEC further more i
    come to know that we have to attest oridgnal (and photocopies)  degrees first from HEC
    then from Foreign Office, afterwords photocopies are required to be notrized is it true

My DD was encashed 22 Jun 2010, Approval 12 July 2010.
