Mitali/Saki and other forum members

i met with one consultant yesterday and he surprised me while saying that i will get only 22 points for my 17 years of education as they do not consider masters for1 year duration.
i might loose points in this case as i was expecting 25 points for my education 10+2+4+1 = 17
is that true they consider masters of 2 years only in canada ?

but he said i can get numbers for my past work experience it dosen't matter if it was not in 38 occupational list.as per him you just have to have 1 year experience of 38 occupational list and your paST EXPERIENCE counts in any NOC list .how true is this?
Work experience counts from almost all ocupations from NOC list (it's probably - groups: 0,1,2,3 and A). Look at the instructions.

Hi friends,
I'll summarize my situation and you can check my time line:
I am an international student applied to CIC Sydney-NS, Canada in Jan. 2010
I have a job offer and send my documents to Buffalo in April.5 2010, then recieved their letter at May, 4, 2010 telling me that we recieved your documents and here is your file number. Hi all,

Today I have called CIC again, and Iam completely shocked,
The call centre agent told me that my application has been returned to me on july 26th because the appln form was wrong. and it has not reached at my address till now. what do i do now. Iam in a dilemma like what could be there in the mail , whether I can apply again or not? unless I see the mail sent by them How do I know whether my application is completely rejected or  they asked me to re apply. and even Iam not in the new occupation list...

Can anyone tell me how do I get the returned application I mean through post office or wht?
all seniors plz advice .

Hi Rnaaz,

Sorry to hear that your application must have lost in the post, i might be wrong but i dont think they would have asked you to reapply under the old rules because most of the applicants who got there application back after 26th June were told to apply under the new rules and unfortunately 4131 is no more in the list. Ring CIC again and ask them for what reason it was returned?

Cheers

Hi satnam,

Please check the following site:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/factor-language.asp

You can score 16 points if you are opting for English as your only language and obviously you will add on points if you have experience in french as well.

As per Cohen's website:

There are 2 languages you can claim points for... we all know it is either English or French. Suppose you choose English as your 1st language and calculate then you get 16 (for all high) and if it is 2nd language or in other words "not your 1st language" then you get 8. When you are opting for English "not your 1st language" then automatically French becomes your 1st language.

I hope it is clear.
