Applying Work Permit Through New Employer Under Current IMPLIED Status

Hi,

I am in Canada and My work permit with current employer expired last month and prior to that same employer has file for work permit extension, which is currently in process. Since, timely work permit extension was filed, therefore I am currently under IMPLIED status. In the mean time, I have an offer from another employer who has already received a positive LMO for the position (This LMO from new employer was filed prior to my work permit expiry). Can, I apply for a work permit from inside Canada through new employer, while I am currently under IMPLIED status?
