Hi, I'm Canadian Citizen and I'm sponsoring my wife for her PR. Currently, our application status is "Application Received". I would like to ask do I have to wait until the statue change to "Application accepted", then I can apply for BC care card?

If there are any medical expense, can I still get a refund after my she got her care card?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

would like to know the same Smiley

I have read in passing on this forrum that some people can get reimbursed for medical expensses they incured while waiting to get approved for PR, but i have not been able to confirm this.

If anyone has information, please let us know. Personally, I am in Quebec, waiting aprooval and pregnant paying out of pocket. Would like to know if there is any chance to get some money back from RAMQ once I become eligeable for their coverage.

Thanks,
eve

You will have to ask RAMQ about that.  They do have an exception on the 3 month waiting period for pregnancy and child birth but since you aren't PR yet, you probably do not qualify for RAMQ yet.

If you get PR this year though, you could deduct the medical expenses from your taxes when you do your taxes for 2012.

Good point, I forgot about the taxes. Can my husband deduct them from his taxes since he's paying anyway?
