Applying for WP while PR in Process

Dear Friends,

I am currently in USA and had applied for PR (under FSW, Non-Canadian class). It is currently with Buffalo Visa Office (status RBVO, 2nd AOR received on 2nd Nov 2010). My current employer has now offered me a project in Canada. My employer does not know that my PR is in process.

Can I still apply for WP while PR is in process? Are there any advantages/disadvantages of applying for WP while PR is in process. Experts, please share your opinions.
