Applying for student visa while permanent visa is in process

Hi there

I applied for permananet immigration 4 years ago from Pakistan. But i have not still got any intimation about interview or something. My case is still in process. I want to study further now. I am an IT professional.
Can someobody confirm about whether i can aply for student visa in Canada while my application is in process or do i have to wait for 7 years.
I will be very grateful to whoever replies me

i dont think it should take 7yrs from ISB. you should contact high commission. It hardly takes 2 years from there

Hi, Saadia and Adnan,

I just read ur posts, I am also waiting for P.R.  My AOR Received dated February 2004, its now been more than  21 months, i didnt hear any thing abt it..... Im scared after hearing that it will take 4 yras.. to go...

well sadia, especially in gals case they dont let or issue any visa for studies or for any visit, if u are allready in process with P.R. Application... coz i have been through this... my Student visa application was not entertined and in 2003, then I applied for P.R. after that this year I applied for visit visa .. they agains refused by saying that , my application is already under process.. so it might be i wont be back... any how u can check if it works with u...

Hi Rimsha .... I got my study permit from Islamabad in like hardly 2 months .. may be less than that ....

r u gonna apply for study permit or PR?

Thanks for ur msg adnan, and Congratulations for ur study permit.. where you going to study , i mean which university and whats ur majors/subjects...

hnm abt me .. Actually at first I applied to studies and got admission in the University of Winnipeg, Manitoba, but Unfortunately i cud not succeed in getting the requested visa, my admission last for 2 yrs, and then ended in July 2003... then I applied for Canadian immigration and my file submitted in CHC Islamabd on 21 February 2004.... and now its Nov 2005 ... till now i didnt hear any thing from them... in the meantime while my P.R. was in process I applied for visit visa on a sponsors letter.. this May, but they  refused to issue the requested visa to me... anyhow, I again applead on the decesion of the visa office, which was not entertained as well... so it was all useless... now im waiting for my immigration to be done.. I dont know when ill hear abt it ... that the whole scenario ....

anyhow Im happy u got Study permit and wish u good luck for ur future and studies...
