Applying for PR b4 using my WP to Canada

I have got my WP letters (obtained through my employer for myself and family) and planning to enter Canada for the 1st time with my family in July, because I really desire to reside in Canada, a friend advised me to apply for the PR in London as this is better than WP.

Now, the question is that if I make the PR application in London, will I still be eligible to enter Canada as I want and be able to use my WP because my employer obtained this for making frequent business trips to Canada - this was disclosed to Canada immigration as well during application of the WP.

My intention is that if I can make the PR application now, then we enter Canada in July '09 with the WP with my family probably they will stay and I will be going back and fort till our PR process in London is ready to finally relocate.  Is there going to be any restriction per our movement in and out of Canada. We are all EU citizen.

My concern is about not having any travel restrictions while our PR is in progress even though we still have and use the WP. Or will this void our WP? Will my wife be able to work in Canada with her WP even though we submitted PR application in Canada?

The reason is that I still want to be with my employer until I have the PR and then relocate 100%,  but while this is in progress I wanted my family to be in Canada. My children are given Study permits (age 10 & 6) while we got the WP. I am quite sure we are well qualify for the PR. Both of us are accountants, but I am working as an IT Consultant for my company.

I believe you won't have any restrictions for travel while your PR application is in process, as it was applied in






I believe that there wouldn't be any restrictions for travel. However, you have to inform the visa office in writing of any change of address or contact numbers after you've submitted your PR application.

Yes it is possible, that is what myself and my wife and busy with also!! It is basically concurrent processing!!

I can also add that it is a way of getting to Canada sooner than waiting for PR. Specially of a employer needs you quickly!!

Thanks a lot guys. The last thing I would like to know is, would I be able to give visa office London my new Canadian address for communication on my PR application process after moving to Canada.

I mean giving CIC visa office London my new Canadian address while the application is under processing. Or the address must always be outside Canada? Because I will start the PR application with my UK address, then in July I will move to Canada on my WP; is it allowed to inform the visa office in London (in writing) of my new address in Canada or it has to continue to be the UK address.

Do a file update with your new details once in Canada or if you have a address before you leave do it then!!!
