Hi All,

I'm in Toronto, Canada on a closed work permit sponsored by my employer. The work permit is valid till March 2012.
I found a new job from new employer who is also willing to sponsor me a work permit. I want to know what is the process that one should follow for applying for a new work permit from within Canada for a new employer.

I have gone thru the information given on below link.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-eligible.asp#inside

Do we need to also apply for an LMO again? and what is the timeframe for processing this?

Also, is there any difference in processing times if I apply online?

Thanks in advance.

You will definitely need an new LMO. Once the new LMO is approved, you will then have to apply for a new work permit (your current work permit only allows you to work for your current employer).

Hopefully someone else can comment on processing times.

LMO application takes about 10 weeks, more or less to process nowadays. For WP processing 55 days (mailed in), 78 days (online) for new employer.
