Hi, ok this is my situation and ill appreciate any information you can give me because the Canadian embassy here doesnt help a lot, Im from Costa Rica and im getting married in a couple of months, my future husband is Canadian and we are moving to Canada, and we are planning to apply from Costa Rica to get the visa, i dont know exactly how that works but we are basically concern about the amount of time this will take and all the paper work, hes currently living here(CR) with me, but i wonder if it would be better if he could take the papers to an office in Canada instead of the embassy here. Also i was reading about the marriage certificate, we are getting married in Costa Rica, so it has to be translated Huh??by who??? a lawyer???

Hi Ekka

Here is a link to the Canadian Embassy in Costa Rico and the areas they serve.

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/costa_rica/index.aspx?lang=eng&view=d

Your new best friend(s) in this process will be this site, the forms you fill out and the CIC site.  I know it will seem daunting at first but your first line of defence will be to read through the CIC site over and over again so you know what is required of you.

First you need to decide if you will apply inland or outland.  Check this site to see if you need a visa to enter Canada and start from there.  Then come back here and start asking your questions.  We are all here to help and there are many people here with lots of experience and immigration consultants as well.

Good luck...sheila
