Hello,

I meet the requirement of applying Canadian citizenship.

Can anyone tell me if I can summit the application and leave Canada for a while? (for taking time off, for traveling)

I gave them my friend's address as my current address, and she got a letter from them last month, and it says I still need to wait for a year or longer.. Can I stay outside of Canada until the further notice? Or I have to let them know where I am now?

Many thanks!!!

Helen

You can but your friend needs to be very diligent about opening your mail.  When they call you for citizenship test, you will have about 2 weeks notice.  Same for oath.  If you postpone it, they will re-schedule you but it's a major hassle so it's better if you don't.  The test for some people can happen in a year, it can happen in 8 months, it can happen in more than a year.  You will not know until you get the notice for it.  Same with the oath, it can happen 2-4 months after the test.
