Hey Monkey... That's Crazy!!  Well, guess your lawyer's poking around had results. March is ages away but at least you know you're back on track again.

I think you might be a little confused between inland and outland applications... both get submitted in Canada first, then outland application are forwarded by CIC to the appropriate visa office. If you are receiving communications from Pretoria then your lawyer obviously applied for you as an Outland applicant, not inland, and then the interview would always be at the visa office - Pretoria.

Since you have time, make sure your lawyer gets the CAIPS notes for you so you can check on what's been going on with your application before you go for your interview. Might help you be best prepared.  GOOD LUCK!!

firstly my application was filled inland it was first sent to Mississauga, Ontario then they deemed it necessary to send it to Pretoria as i think is the case unless you have resided in Canada more than a year before you filled which you can not do with a visitor visa.i am trying to arrange the interview here in Canada if possible because that would be a lot easier.anyway will keep you guys up to date.

Congradz Jacquevw, I juss did a happy dance for you. Hopefully Pretoria will ot waste much of your time.

@  Monkey..At least you have heard something, prepare yourself for the interview and go prove yourself...all the best wishes to you. If you dont mind me asking do you know why you may have been called for an interview?

@ Waitingz..I hear you hun, im pretty sure your stuff is somewhat close to the finish line though. What scares me is how I haven't heard anyone getting their visa from Pretoria of late..makes me wonder if those offices are even open to begin with. Im going to email them on Friday so will keep you guys informed. Hopefully they don't give me a generic response lol.

Monkey a IN CANADA application is meant for Canadians residing in Canada with there spouses.  It is processed soley in Canada, Vegreville Alberta.  Interviews are conducted in Canada.  An outland application is always sent to Mississauga regardless of where the applicant is living (in Canada or abroad). Interviews are always conducted abroad and applicants residing in Canada have to be prepared to return if an interview is called.  In your case the application was filed to Mississauga then onto Pretoria, country of your nationality.  They will not transfer the interview to Canada and you'll have to travel to SA for the interview.

If you've been admitted to Canada legally for one year then in this case the application can be processed in Buffalo.

They better be open!!!  Definitely let us know how the email works out.  I'll be in SA in a few weeks and I'm happy I won't be anywhere near Pretoria because it'll be very tempting to go beat down their door and demand and answer Tongue

3 months since started processing in Pretoria... but hey, who's counting, right??? (!!!!!)

Hi Perfect - what's the BF date??

Getting bored of hearing nothing. Has been a month since last communication from Pretoria. Makes me feel like the application has disappeared into some administrative black hole...

BF date is the brought forward date on which the officer reviews your file. I finally bought a ticket so im flying home for xmas to be with hubby!! I am going to make sure that I enjoy myself and forget about this till next year. By the way, Pretoria hasn't not replied my email, I spoke to someone at the embassy though but they refused to discuss the file over the phone, in fact she did not even open it. The only thing i got from the conversation was that there's only one person who deals with the spousal applications in Pretoria and that she is too busy for inquiries...oh well...no wonder why they are taking forever..\

Perfect - I haven't actually seen the letter from immigration about sending the additional documents - would the BF day just be the deadline they've given? So if the letter was sent Nov 1 and were given 90 days the BF day would be January 29 or did they actually give you a date?

Hello again!

Hope you are all having a wonderful festive season! Looks like I might just have my very first white Christmas up here in BC!!

Curious to know how long the process has been so far for you Perfect and Waitingz?
I have decided...or rather my wife (hehe) has, that I stay in Canada to wait things out! Its all good, but finances might become an issue later on maybe if the process drags out too long! Gonna do some volunteer work and start building our cabin in the woods while I wait!

Anyway have a great time wherever you might be and if you are not as lucky as I am to be with your family then you will be in my thoughts! Cheesy

Groete
