Is kind of funny how we struggle throught our applications. While this member posted the problem with his AOR, I just received an email from US immigration with receipt numbers for the final stage of my greencard application. I tried checking the numbers in case status and they would not show up. Checked with a customer service representative and they told me to wait for 72 hours before it would show up in the database!!!

The way Buffalo is processing applications, you will get your US GC before Canadian PC. Good luck either way.

Hi guys,

I got my AOR from Buffalo today (Apr 28 2010) via email.
I sent full docs on March 22nd, so it took about 5 weeks for the AOR to arrive.
As I read now it gets to the longer period of waiting. I've seen a lot of posts about how it takes 6-12 months until the decision is made, is that true?
This is the text I got:
Quote
Dear Applicant:

This is to advise you that your application for permanent residence has been received at the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo, New York and that a file has been created for you. Your file number appears above. Please note that this file number is different from the one that was assigned to you by the Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. You must quote this new file number in any future correspondence.

Before your application can be placed in processing, a determination will be made as to whether or not you are eligible for processing. If your application is not eligible for processing, you will receive a letter informing you of the reasons for the decision as well as a refund.

Thanks guys. Just got back right now after a 100 mile trip to the doctor to complete the medicals. I will post details of the medical exams tomorrow. Is pretty straightforward.

Well, you do not need to keep funds all the time in the bank for all practical purposes. But if your family composition changes, then you have to give them a bank letter for any family members added (like a spouse if you get married after applying or if a child is born in your family after applying). So, if you send additional documents for changes in family composition, make sure you send them a bank letter too showing the necessary amounts of funds.

MEDICAL PROCEDURE

Ok guys. Since I had some time after dinner, I thought I'd post my experience with the medicals. My family (3 of us) went to the doctor's office this morning and filled out the necessary forms. You will need to take Part A of the medical exam (which you receive by mail as the medical request from the consulate), your passport as identification and two passport photographs to the doctor. After filling and signing the forms, we gave blood and urine samples (only for my wife and myself, not for the baby). Then had a routine physical (NO stripping was requested as has been written in other posts) and went to get the X ray done. When you are done with the X-ray and you get the film, MAKE SURE your name, date of birth and the date of exam is correctly printed on the film (The doctor's office told us that CHC is very picky about these details and sends back the medical report if there are any errors on it). Once we got the X-rays done, we took them back to the doctor, who looked at them and said they were fine and we were free to go. We got a FEDEX receipt number to track the receipt of our application in Ottawa.

Few pointers in brief:

Make sure, all information on Part A of the medical form (the form you will receive in the mail from the consulate) is correct. If any information is incorrect, get it corrected by the doctor.

Take along with you, your passport, two passport photos and Part A of the form.

Make sure all information filled on the forms by the doctor, your name, date of birth and date of exam on the X-rays is accurate.

Thanks for sharing this one, I have done the same exactly two years ago to get the student visa to Canada.

Wish you the best of luck and thanks again.

Hi Everyopne,
I also posted this on another thread...
I just checked my B*** from CIO this morning and my status has changed. Now it says:

We received your application for permanent residence on July 2, 2009.
We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on September 18, 2009. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
Your application and supporting documents were received by the Buffalo office. They are pending review.
We transferred your application to the Buffalo office on September 22, 2009. The Buffalo office may contact you.

My question is, I only submitted my docs to Buffalo on Jan 18 2010 then had to resubmit on Mar 9 2010. I do not even have my second AOR yet. So I am not sure why they said they transfered my docs to Buffalo on Sep 22 2009. I only got my initial AOR from Sydney on those dates. Can anybody shed light on this? or is this normal?

To my understanding it says that the file inforamation of whatever sydney had (ur elgibility and other things )they transffered all dat to buffalo
n same time requested u to submit ur app. to buffalo in a diff. letter...
i have a same e-cas status as u..it changed this morning. and sent my file to buffalo on 27 january whereas i applied to buffalo on 27 feb .
so it's pretty usual...

The second AOR comes from Buffalo while the first comes from Sydney. Hope that helps clear your doubts.
