Hi guys,

Does Buffalo issue File No. after checking Docs. or without checking them??? If I got AOR that means they checked my file and supporting documents and entered me in their database and now I am in a waiting list for the futher precessing???

PLZ SHARE...................

The file # is issued without thoroughly checking the file. It is only after CIC starts processing your application that they thoroughly check your documents. There is supposed to be some document processing at Sydney, especially related to your NOC and processing fee.

Guys,

Any idea how long it takes to receive correspondence from the consulate? Detroit consulate emailed me on the 18th that they were preparing correspondence to mail it to me. Have not got anything from them yet. E case status still shows "In Process".

On a more brighter note: I got my wife's PCC from Houston consulate in 10 days!!!!!!!! Kudos to the Indian consulate!

Hi Mark;

Actually i would disagree with you in that regard, i do not think that they accept the application and supporting documents at the local visa office if they are incomplete even if the application was sent to the CIO at first. (even before they start processing the application)

Have a look at the following case from (trackitt.com), the guy sent his application to the CIO at first and got approved without any problems, after he sent his full documents to Buffalo visa office, they returned the entire package back to him without any AOR or new file number, with an explanation letter saying that he must fix the gaps between his residential addresses and then re send his application again.

That is his thread exactly :

Hi everyone,

I wondered if there is anyone on the forum, who has applied for a FSW under Category 3 (temporary worker in Canada) and if so, if we can share some information on our cases.

From my time line, I submitted my application as follows (also on the tracker forum):

Currently in Alberta on a Temp. Work Visa Company LMO - expires May 2010

April 29 - CIO
June 6 - email from CIO to send docs

Sept 14 - Docs sent to Buffalo
Oct 19 - Full application returned due to gap in residential address (?? I was travelling and did not have a fixed address)

Oct 22 - Resent application with explaination

And that is all I have.

I hope we can share some information and support

Professional1:

Well, that was my earlier perception too. However, I came across cases on this forum wherein the applicants were not informed of any inadequacy in their applications until the process was started. The cases like the one you have shown here are far and few, to my understanding. You have a point too, but I wish what you said was entirely true. Some cases they do check, some they miss until after processing starts. Guess it is not a foolproof system, but we will have to live with that fact.

Happy Thanksgiving, US hopefuls to Canada.

Mark: Have you come across any posts describing how applications sent between Feb 2008 and December 2008 were processed? The reason I ask is since I sent my application my AOR said the application would be assessed according to Ministerial Instructions. I'm wondering whether the application was sent to the CIO in Sydney or assessed in Buffalo itself. My e status always said "Application Received" from the date I got the AOR till Nov 18th when it changed to "In Process".

Most of the applications were sent to CIO, in the time period you have mentioned. If an applicant gets an AOR from CIO, it means that the initial assessment was conducted at Sydney. If any applicant gets the AOR from Buffalo directly (and none from Sydney), he/she can safely assume that the application was assessed in Buffalo and not Sydney. I have personally yet to come across a case wherein the applicant has gotten his application sent to Buffalo directly. However, it doesn't mean that they aren't cases like that.

If I may ask, what is your timeline?

I sent my application to Buffalo on Nov 13th 2008 (new rules had not come into effect at this time). My application was received by Buffalo on November 14th 2008. AOR was sent by Buffalo (not Sydney) on March 18th 2009. Then on October 27th 2009, it was transferred to Detroit consulate. Further email correspondence with them revealed that Detroit received the application on Nov 2nd 2009 and they screened it on Nov 10th 2009. I'm waiting for further instructions in the mail.

mpadp, it looks like the process of scrutiny of applications starts all over again when the files get transferred.
Is that correct?
Seems like a rather wasteful thing though.

Well, your application has gone to Buffalo directly. You are ahead of the rest of us in terms of processing (yours has already started while most of us are waiting to have ours started). I am pretty sure you will be able to wrap things with the Canadian PR by March/April 2010.

Mark:

That's right. The processing has already started, however I dont know if it's going to be an up or down vote because of the confusion in these new rules that came out after I sent my applications. Fingers are crossed.

Honolulu:

I guess you are right. There seems to be an enormous amount of redundancy in processing applications. I thought they said they were going to expidite it and make life faster for everyone!!!

mpapdp.1984:

The chances of going down from here are pretty slim for you. Once processing starts, it would only take a very bad medical result to go down from here. If your medical results satisfy Canadian immigration, nothing can stop the PR process from culminating.

Mark:

I guess you are right. I was reading OP6 (seems to be some kind of guidelines for immigration officers to process FSW applications) last night and think the local visa office processing stage is pretty much an almost positive verdict on the application. I'll keep you guys posted on what's going on.

Cheeers and good luck
