So lets say if I am back in India, while my PR is completed and now I just need to get my passport stamped. In such a situation, can the CIC - Buffalo issue a sponsorship letter that the candidate needs to come for a day to get his/her passport stamped ? So that one can travel on B1/B2 visa ?

Failing above, can some friend of mine in US send sponsorship docs for a B2 visa ( tourist one ) ?

Please sugest..

Thanks!

Tuxey:

From the time you send in the details, police certification should not take more than a couple of weeks.

CanadaPal1:

The CIC will not issue anything for you. However, if you are back in India and you have the documentation from CIC, you can show that to the US embassy in India and get yourself a visa (unless they have a reason to deny you one). Applying as a tourist is also another possibility.

Hi All,

In Jan 2009, Canadian consulate in Buffalo received my application under Federal Skilled Worker category. I am a Computer programmer/software developer.

However, they returned my entire application stating that "As of Dec 1, 2008, visa offices will no longer be directly receiving applications in Federal Skilled Worker category unless the applicant has arranged employment ......" The letter states that I should send my application to following address.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Federal Skilled worker centralized intake unit
...
Sydney, NS
Canada

1. Has anyone else got similar experience?
2. should I send my application to the above address?
3. Has canada stopped taking applications for software engineers?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

seems like things are TOO SLOW in Buffalo right now

CIO Nova Scotia received our application on May 13, 2009. Received notification thru email on July 14 stating to submit complete application to Buffalo for further assessment.

August 3 - submitted full application to Buffalo
August 14 - Letter informing us that they have received the application with new file number this time

ECAS - application received

our application is still for review tho.. hay, the waiting game

  @  hopeForCanadaPR,

When did you receive the avove communication from Buffalo, also i assume you are applying under FSW category 1.

and buffalo is right , you need to send the complete application to CIO - please read the information again as few things have changed as far as the process and documentation is concerned,

go to this site :
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

6. Point #5 is based on "hear-say" and I haven't been able to confirm this information on CIC's website.

Questions, comments, discussions are welcome.

Hi rahmanrahat, the information about processing the FSW applications under the new rules within 6 to 12 months are in the following link for CIC website : (At the middle of the page, the seventh paragraph)

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/releases/2008/2008-11-28.asp

“We expect new federal skilled worker applicants, including those with arranged employment, to receive a decision within six to 12 months compared with up to six years under the old system,” said Minister Kenney. “All other economic class applications—including applicants chosen by Quebec, provincial nominees, the Canadian Experience Class, and live-in caregivers—will continue to be given priority.”

Jason Kenney

However, i don't know why Buffalo is too slow comparing to other visa offices under the new rules !!! they should increase their office capacity to meet the huge number of applications which they receive.

and the wierd thing is that i got that link for CIC from Buffalo visa office website in the following link : (the first link in the page)

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/applying_pr-demande_rp.aspx?lang=eng

in spite of that, they are still too slow in BUffalo by holding files for 52 week just pending initial review !!!!
