eCAS status changed to "In Process" today. Haven't received the new file number yet. Hoping will get the new file number in a week or two.

How can we check the ecas status, if we havent recieved the file no from Buffalo.
Can we do it with the file no from Sydney

Reach:

I got my confirmation of the documents receiving Buffalo in August. I do have the file number but nothing since. I have a very strong feeling that Buffalo is very slow, compared to Asian countries. When I filed from USA and did some research, I was under the impression Buffalo is faster than Asia. Not so anymore.

Unfortunately, changing the application to another country at this stage would be a very tough thing to do. For example, if you filed from India in March, you get your medical by September.

The file number from NS will not suffice. You need the file # from Buffalo, which is the number used by CIC to post updates about your status.

CanadaPal1:

Well, you can get your file transferred to India, BUT it will take you at least 2-3 months before they do it (if at all Buffalo agrees to do it). Also, you will have to have a very strong case to show CIC that you DO need to have the file transferred to India. Just so you know, applications from India are processed much much faster than Buffalo. I would have thought it should be opposite since around 30,000 people apply from India, while around 8,000 apply from Buffalo per year.

Anyone has any updates on "checking application status"?

When I log on to the CIC website and click on "Application for Permanent Residence - FSW submitted to Sydney, NS" under "The following tables will help you understand your application status", does it show a GENERAL diagram of application status for everyone who submitted to NS or is it with particular reference to me? I see some items in RED, some in GREEN, and some in BLUE. Anyone has any interpretation on the same? My personal thinking is that it is a GENERAL diagram which is relevant to anyone who applied to NS and not particularly to me.

We share almost same timeline. Let us keep each other posted of any new development at either end. I would  say the same to all of you out there who are in the same boat. Unfortunately, what I have heard so far about Buffalo is that the processing time is very slow. Even if you have filed after November 2008 (when the new regulations came into play), the processing time for Buffalo will be no less than 12 months.

Hi, i just have a quick question, you stated that you sent your full application to Buffalo on SEP 15, 2009 and your online status has changed from Centralized intake office complete to In Process !!! how come it wasn't changed to recieved by the visa office ? since it is the second stage in the order after NS, do you mean that they started processing your application after 3 weeks only from recieving your application ? because i see many applicants who applied on sep, and august 2008 say that their online status shows, Received by the visa office, pending initial review, and your status shows in process only within 3 weeks ??

anyway congratulation.

Hi Guys,

It seems i am way behind u...I submitted my application to NS in Nov'08, after so many to and fro regarding the correct documents etc. Buffalo recieved my application in Feb'09 and I got a new file no. from Buffalo. Its 7 months gone, my status is "Application recieved by Buffalo, review pendin". Its too frustating...is there anybody else who applied around same time as me?

Candin, did you actually have to submit your appl to NS first in 2008. I thought they published the new rule about centralized NS submission just in April 2009. So, before that you could submit your appl directly to Buffalo if you live in the US. Am I wrong here?

1. Full Application & Supporting Docs. reached Buffalo on 15 Sept 09 (Source: FedEx).

2. My status went from "CIO-S Eligibility Review Complete" to "In Process"; skipped "Received by Visa Office". However, this is the detail status once I click on "In Process" - "Your application and supporting documents were received by the Buffalo office. They are pending review." I guess the status should read "Received by Visa Office".

3. I think they will send me a new file number from Buffalo in 2-3 weeks, and then I'll wait for months before a visa officer opens my file for actual processing.

4. eCAS link: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas

5. I read in some thread in this forum (cannot remember the title of the thread), that CIC's commitment is to process all FSW application within 52 weeks of "lock-down-date". Lock down date is defined as the date the full application + supporting documents reached the visa office. In my case, the lock down date would be 15-Sept-2009 15 and I am expecting Buffalo to make a decision on my application within 15-Sept-2010.

6. Point #5 is based on "hear-say" and I haven't been able to confirm this information on CIC's website.
