I have observed this trend too, pro. And the reason why other visa offices are not asking for too much documentation or doing a lot of b/g checks is their lack of experience in doing so. Most of the applications stay at Buffalo (not more than 10% of all applications sent to Buffalo are sent to other visa offices across the country). It is like this -- Buffalo is the HQ and rest are sales offices. Most of the work is done at HQ. Lucky are the ones who applications are transferred to other visa offices.

Mark

Yes actually i think lucky applicants who get their applications transfered form Buffalo because even in the Canadian experience class, i see that the cases which are stuck with (request for background information from other agencies/governments) are being processed in Buffalo and not any other local office in the US. Therefore, i shouldn't be that happy because i got the medicals with Buffalo. We never know what Buffalo can comes up with.

For the other local visa offices in the US, their working capacity is very low comparing to Buffalo and that is why they do not accept PR applications directly from the applicants, unless Buffalo transfers them, which means again that those offices cannot keep the applications that long without being finalized.

Hi there
I am a student in a Canadian university. My question is regarding the proof of funds. Is it possible that yearly funding letter that you get from a university while studying can be used as a proof of funds instead of putting 11000 CAD in your bank account.

Which kind of yearly funding letter ?

I am wondering if guidelines are issued on how and under what circumstances background checks should be carried out.
Meanwhile I will look for them on the net and it would be great is someone who found them earlier can post them here

Unfortunatly, there is no any official source talks about the background check details issue. I tried to search on google and all of the results were talking about Buffalo certainly. very disappointing sign. The reputaion of this visa office sounds like a nightmare !

Hi,

I have just come to know that my comany in back home where I worked for over 3 years and have shown that as my work exprience to buffalo has moved to another place so got different contact numbers. Do you thing I should inform buffalo about that change if so... then How ?? Please share your views....

BRAVOO

In my opinion, no need to do so since you are already not working in that company and not responsible to track them whereever they go. If you do so, you might draw their attention to this matter and as a results might be asked to update their documents as long as you are still in contact with them.

If they try to contact your company and find any difficulties, they will contact you, and then you can provide them the new contact information, justifying that you had now idea about the change of address of your past employer which you are not even supposed to track him.

That is the problem with a visa office like Buffalo which takes forever to process an application, most of the documents get outdated being put in their cupboards for years waiting for being looked at !

This office is not that efficient in processing.

Honolulu,

That is the only official source talks about the background check, which might delay the processing of an application, If the visa office decides to proceed to the following procedures with an applicant (selectively):

"The following factors may delay the processing of your application:

- Information and documents provided required independent verification

- Consultation is required with other offices in Canada and abroad."

The source:     http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf

At the end of page number (40).

It means that some screwed applicants are going to go through those two procedures, i pray to god not be one of them.

Hi garian,

I have received my second AOR on may 2 but the letter has a date stamp of 08 Apr 2010, so how much time does it take from here to medical.

sazid

Depending on how lucky you are, it could be anything between 3 - 12 months. I am close to 4 months and am still waiting for that step.

Need advice:

I am working in Toronto on a Post Grad WP and my Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) has now run out. Just wondering whether it makes sense to apply for a visa at this point, esp. since my FSW file is stuck in Detroit and I am waiting for medical request.

Just wondering if anyone here has had to do the same while their FSW application was in process. If yes, how long did it take to get TRV and from which visa office.

I think I should avoid Buffalo and my next choice is Detroit, esp. since that's where my FSW file is.

Any thoughts guys?

How long has your application been stuck with Detroit ? because it is supposed to be fast ! have you got the medical request or not yet ?

If you would like to apply for a TRV, go for Detroit not Buffalo because it would be faster.

I found this case in Buffalo without file transfer to anywhere else, thank god, it gives some hope:

He sent his medicals to Ottawa on:  March 09, 2010

And got the passport request on: May 12, 2010

Got his visa: May 20, 2010

Thank god, it means that not all cases which are being processed in Buffalo get stuck after medicals.

 @ Pro1

Transferred to Detroit on April 7, no update since then. Will contact them if there's no eCAS update after 90 days (after July 7).

Do not worry, for you, because your file is in Detroit (faster than Buffalo), and you have already done medicals, i believe your wait is not going to be more than one month after Detroit receives your medicals from Ottawa.

Good luck.

This also proves that Ottawa can respond in a very short period.
