They can, certainly. However, London usually requests them along with medicals.

I will be eligible to file for CEC on May 24th..so will mail out my application on the 24th. I am still confused abt selecting a VO...as Buffalo is extremely slow with FSW apps...I was wondering if I should select ND over Buffalo as ND is super fast with FSW...but I am not sure which VO is better for CEC as  far as processing times go...mayb I should go with Buffalo as your email says processing time is 10 months...can you give your thoughts please. Thanks once again !

As for CEC application the processing time is 10 months irrespective of which VO you choose. accordingly i decided BVO.Secondly there are problems in sending passport to home country by courier and getting back so i decided to go by BVO.
tks.

Hi, would you please explain what you mean by GCMS notes? Is it the same as CAPIS? The london VO received my medicals on 30 jan and till now no updates. Do you think I can use GCMS/ CAPIS in this situation? Do we nneed to pay somethign for this? How long does it take for them to answer? As well how do we do it? If you could answer, it would be great. Many thanks

GCMS is the new version of your file that the Visa Offices upgraded their computer systems to over the last few years. The old version is called CAIPS. So yes, for the purpose of this forum and google searches, they are interchangeable terms for your file.

Yes, definitely, request a copy of your GCMS, I get one a month recently. The website below is the one that I use, cost is $25 and you will get your report in 4-6 weeks. Very simple, just follow instructions, pay, print form, scan, email back and wait. (Note, the report you receive will be a snapshot of your report on the day it is generated. You will not get the report for another 2-4 weeks, so what you see will be about 2-4 weeks old, but it's better than nothing, and it will tell you what is up with your medicals.

Hope that helps, and best of luck!

Mark

UPDATE Cheesy

Got my GCMS Notes today. They show the file on the pull date of March 28, 2012, almost exactly a month ago. GCMS notes show that Background Checks started on March 27, 2012 for both my wife and me. Under "Criminality", we both are listed as "In Progress."

So, even though my file is still listed online as RBVO (at Buffalo VO no less), and a recent status inquiry email came back with "you are in que," there has been substantial activity happening with our file...one might even say that our app is "in progress"

So cheer up everyone who has been transferred and hasn't heard anything!

Mark

Bump...

I think this got lost over the weekend. Some light at the end of the tunnel for fellow Buffalo's who were transfered to other US Visa Offices and haven't heard anything yet. They are working on your files! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
