Good one. You applied a month after me and you are miles ahead of me!

Are you taking booster tablets? Share the secret.

Congratulations all the same.

There is a large disparity between some applicants at the same visa office. I think part of it is simple luck of the draw as to which immigration officer is assigned to process your case.

If you are assigned to an officer with a light current workload you will get looked at sooner. If you are assigned to an officer who already has a large current workload, it may take a while before they will look at your case.

Pure speculation, of course, but I can see no other reason why people's applications can vary so greatly in the time it takes to go into process.

Once in process I can understand that the individual complexities of the case, how many countries lived in, quality and completeness of documents and that kind of thing, can impact how long it actually takes to get to the medical requests stage.

The question is if CIC approves your immigration application on the basis of your work experinece, academic qualifications and standard of English of French, why are these not recognised when you get to Canada? I can understand the issue with certified professions but it shouldn't take 4 years for a surgeon, who has performed numerous surgeries in the UK, to get his qualification recognised in Canada. Are they saying that Canadian human physiology is different from the rest of the world?

Canada needs immigrants to expand its economy and fight its aging population. There seems to be a disconnect between qualification standards the immigration ministry applies, when compared to what is expected from an immigrant to enter the labor market. New laws are necessary to bring things in line.  Canada is a big ship that steers slowly, new laws are being enacted to make it easier for immigrants to enter the labor force successfully, but the process is painfully slow.

Just my opinion,
Cam

Yup - not everyone who s going over there will be succesful...thats the bitter truth..is'nt it? thats how it is everywhere......the best thing one can do is to go in with a mind set to intergrate completely into Canadian way of life although that does'nt mean doing the 100% things their way but anything and everything which can make us fail should be put away............by reading i ve come to a conclusion that most of the people who kind of fail over there are people who are a bit of shy of taking new challenges...start over....they believe they will get better jobs as soon as they arrive...well thats not going to happen in every case....so saying this again...best approach is to go in with your battle gear and tough it out till you get what you desire and take it onwards...

I partly agree above - to be outgoing and participating is obligatory. However, one must realize, especially new immigrants - that they must not give up their cultures, diversity, accent and all the good things they bring with them. Canada is proud to have you here and is also proud to have a diverse population from all cultures. YOUR language is never a barrier if your skill sets are sharp, and with due time you will be recognized. I dis-regard the video.

Hi all,

**** VISA RECEIVED! ****

Well I am pleased to announce that at 2pm today, after almost 11 months since we mailed our application, we received our visas in our passports from CHC London!

Below is a picture of myself and my wife just outside CHC London (actually taken in Grosvenor Square with CHC London in the background with our visas).
Many thanks to all the friends who have helped, advised and supported us through this process!

Wayne.

Congratulations brother ...

I can see everyone in the forum is celebrating your VISA arrival, I also won't miss the chance to tell you congratulations.

From a qualifications point of view, what else do you suggest they do?

Have a "fast track" upgrade path from one country's qualification to the Canadian equivalent? How do they arrange such a course for every combination from each country, worldwide? It simply isn't workable.

Those in a regulated profession may have to accept that they perform a lesser role in their field for a few years whilst they requalify. Some short term sacrifices sometimes have to be made when emmigrating in exchange for longer term success and happiness.
