33 weeks to  complete 1st eligibility review and receive AOR...

probably we were too much concentrated on reading favorable part of 120-day shave-off, and did not properly read through the backlog reduction part...

march 2011 (if successful) 1st AOR, then how long more into b/ground and medicals? before the backlog is reduced, or what?

I am surprised Sad

Their currently instructions very clearly state that all post Feb 2008 applications will be processed in the order they are received. There is no scope in there for suddenly halting work on them and working on the backlog for pre Feb 2008 instead.

The only POSSIBLE explanation IMO for 33 weeks is if CIC are somehow cutting out visa office and doing the whole show themselves up to the point of issuing visa, but the current MI etc clearly state this is not the case.

The only other explanation is that 33 weeks it just a fob off to stop people calling them. We'll see what transpires over the next few weeks, but given that they are reportedly doing eligibility reviews past end of August now, WHAT can they possibly be doing to cause 33 week delays, unless they are actually doing the visa office's job for them?

Totally agree. AORs have been already issued for some applications received in 25th June, and all pre June,26 applicants will get their AOR very soon and their applications will be forwarded to the visa offices. I don't see anything preventing the CIO from starting processing our applications directly after that, given that we have priority over pre Feb 28 2008 applicants, as they clearly said.

I have just thought of an even more horrifying possibility.

The reason they are saying 33 weeks is this is how long they think it will take for their caps (1000 in each NOC or 20000 to be full). So they do not want to let anyone know if they've passed or failed until they have their 20000 that they want.

This may be that applications that they perceive ineligible do not have chance to amend their applications and send them back in again.

If this is their battle plan, then it could be that not only will people not receive AORs for 33 weeks, but also nobody will receive a rejection. Then all at once all AORs and rejections go out at once, and those rejected have no chance to amend their application.

If this is true I think it's disgraceful, especially not communicating this officially to the applicants.

Nobody has a problem with you asking questions. It's when you spam the SAME post over and over again, in short succession, that people get annoyed.

Please when you've asked a question wait patiently for an answer. People will reply, but give them time and chance to do so.

Congratulations! Your credit card/banker's draft should be cashed within a few weeks. But regrettably you could be in for a very long wait to hear anything after that Sad

Let's hope CIC start to clarify things a bit better soon.

Just read interesting article. In Russia, for example, it is a state crime to disclose any information about your military service (incluidng your duties, number of your subdivision and superior's family name). And all this data is part of application form, even Turistic one!!!

Does somebody know or heard something about this? Guys, in other countries is this issue also illegal???

I would think under such circumstances CIC would not expect you to break any laws. So I would send a covering letter for that form, saying that owing to the laws of your country you are unable to disclose the information. I'd even go as far as to mention which articles or paragraphs of law apply so they can check themselves if they need to.

33 weeks mean we would be addicted to the forum on daily basis, pressing F5 and checking our email account on each day morning (after 5 PM Canada time), praying that we get successful AOR.

The PR comes with a long waiting and one would have high respect for it.

Hope this 33 weeks time is highest possible wait period and we would start getting AOR once May / June is over. As per June sheet still 35% applicants are waiting for AOR. If we go as per minister announcement that the application would be processed in the order they are received after year 2008, we are in queue waiting for June applications to be finished.

as of http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/statistics/data-release/2010-Q2/index.asp

they have 150,000 FSW applications waiting for decision

Wayne.

Wayne, the whole reason for "application processing" reform that took place in Feb. of 2008 and the refinement they went through in June of 2010, was to limit unnecessary applications (those careers that the country did not need), and to attract those people who they do need, by processing their applications in a timely manner, i.e. 6 to 12 months. This new processing time will allow them to relieve the backlog of applications before Feb. 2008. They have said repeatedly that they want to be competitive with other countries, such as Great Britain and Australia, in attracting the educated skilled workers they need, and to do this they have to process applications in a timely manner.

Minister Kenny has blamed the Liberal Administrations of the past for creating this backlog in skilled worker immigration and has credited his own policies for "proactively" coming up with solutions that will relieve the backlog. I cannot believe the 33 week for AOR is correct, simply because the processing time for those who have applied post June 2010, will go over one year and those who are applying in June 2011 will have to wait until the June 2010 people are cleared... 33 weeks will create a new backlog and it will be an embarrassment for the administration. The new policies would then be considered a complete failure.

I think what they mean is, you will hear something WITHIN 33 weeks... so stop calling us every day. I think we should get some AOR's in November...

And not only because i beleive the russian journalist, but in Moldova it is almost the same. It is not my case as I am woman and did not do any military service. But if somebody would like to make a problem ... and it was mention for turistic visa!!! Why do they need to know that?
