I wouldn't say it matters for the most part. What could make a difference is how well prepared your case is (here is where the consultant comes in handy). Rod Re: Buffalo Applicants
Does it really matter if one applied through a consultant/representative/lawyer???
I just wonder how come my other co-workers, who probably applied about a year ahead of me, became PRs in a shorter period than how our applications (post 6/26/2010)...some differences though is that I'm a year late to apply and they applied through a consultant.
any thoughts?

You can have two applications in parallel. The VO will advise you when to withdraw one application or the other depending on which they make a decision first

my ecas shows they have started processing on 2 december 2011...though havent received any letter
how long it will take...

Exact ditto for me too... Changed to IP on Dec 5 and processing started Dec 2 but no news since then whatsoever! And foreverurs is right... The whole game is about waiting and waiting and waiting!
