Application status communication

Hi
I have applied from USA for permanent residence to Canada in the month of May.
The office suggested some corrections and I have sent it back again on June 18th, 2009.
So far I didn't hear any thing about my application status.
I heard from my bank officials that my Demand draft was cleared on 2nd of August, 2009.
Do I also get an email about my file # /status of my application along with the regular mail.
I would like to know the procedure after the application was sent to the Sydney office in Canada.

Mostly you'd be receiving a mail stating the application no: and other steps and documents required.
