application status at Mississauga

Hi all, I applied for my wife's immigration (spousal sponsorship) during second week of July 2011. All I know about the application right now is that it got delivered during 2nd week of July (Canada Post Tracking).

How do i know the status of the file? Would CIC send me an email/mail/or some form of confirmation stating whether the file has been transferred to the respective country or not?

Sorry, I had to ask because i cant find any relevant info in their website as well as this forum so far and I dont understand some of the Acronyms that are being used constantly here (like CAIPS, AOR etc..).

You will receive a letter or an email from them when they approve you as sponsor. Until then, you will not hear from them.  That is currently taking 55 days from the time a package is received, so you won't receive anything until then.  Assuming it was delivered by July 15, 55 days takes you to Sep 9 or so, so you still have a while to wait.

You can try checking the electronic Client Application Status (eCAS) application on CIC's website around then, using your receipt number and sponsor details: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=ecas&lang=en

Hi Charlie, which receipt number? I paid via the internet and I got receipt number start with R (R12....) is that consider as receipt number (IMM 5401)? if yes then why it did not work for me? I could not logon uisng that number? any help would be very much apprecaite it. thanks a lot.

I haven't been able to log in with my husband's (sponsor) info, even now when I'm able to with mine, so I wouldn't stress too much about not being able to yet.  Nothing to do but wait, you'll hear from them eventually.  Good luck.
