Well, guys, I hope that files that are in Buffalo will be transferred to the other offices. It's so strange that they are closing Buffalo as it is the main office that you send your applications to.

On another note, I landed today at North Portal. It took about 5 1/2 hours to drive there from Saskatoon and the same duration back. And for me the process took about 25 minutes to complete. At least it's all done now.
I never received a call from the office in Saskatoon for an appointment to complete the landing, so to not waste any time, my friend and I drove to North Portal. I think I spent about 10 minutes on US soil before heading back into Canada to complete the procedure.
Congrats!!

Congrats!!

Hey All,
Hope everyone doing well,
Well I'm a little bit of a dilemma here,
Well I am getting married in about a month, The file transferred to Seattle, I got no realistic timeline on when my file is gonna be completed, So I have decided on notifying the VO of the change of my status before i leave the country to get married,
But what all documents do i need to add my Fiancé to the application and well after all the documents a re submitted and all goes well , The problem is that she is in my Home Country and the file would be in Seattle.
So how would i submit her passport to Seattle then?
Can i tell them to transfer my file to my home country VO?

Well, one thing you could do is to get married and then wait for awhile to see if you become a permanent resident. Then sponsor your wife. Since Buffalo is going to be shut down next month, you will now have to apply on-line. And you will either have to sponsor her through the PNP stream or the Federal stream.
I hope others can give you more information about your case.

I dont know whats going to happen now. Where did you find out that buffalo is shutting down next month? I think the news of the closure is coming out next week, but no official news has been released as to when the consulate is actually closing?

I dont know how NY Consulate is, but I hope its quicker as now another 3-6 more wait!!!!

I read the link to the article. But since so many things regarding Immigration and Citizenship are happening between June and July, it could be true.
Most of the other consulates are pretty quick at issuing your PPR, but I would also depend on the officer who is looking at your file. It is a good sign that your file will be transferred to a different consulate once Buffalo is shut down.

Are you sure you don't want to to wait to get your PR, land and then get married?

Sorry you can't ask them to transfer your file to your home country. If u add her to your application, when you get approved she would have to send her passport to you and you submit both passports to Seattle.

An option is to get married and add her to your application. This will delay your processing a bit, but both of you will get visas at the same time. She could in the meanwhile come to Canada on a TRV. The other option is to sponsor her after you are approved, but a friend of mine found it was several months before her app was approved.
