What I read from this canadianvisa.com website is, if you are married and you did not declare your spouse till your application is approved then whole procedure starts again...

Another news, I receive email from ottawa with my file no., and medical request today.

Congrats Kunal09!! I can see Nov applicants are moving forward now, even though slowly, but better than nothing.

Thanks! I am pretty surprised by the speed too! Ecas said they started processing on May 1, so it wasn't much time until I got my PPR

Lilbabu, I am currently in BC.

newbrunswicker, i received the email from Buffalo but my file had been in Otttawa.  My understanding is that Ottawa is. Of able to issue the actual visa so once they have completed the appropriate checks, they send it to Buffalo.

good luck to everyone else....I think this is a good omen for the November group!

Hmm...that's strange. You can probably try to email Ottawa see if they can set you up? Maybe they just missed yours...

Hi, guys,

I have a question about Ottawa processing time,

"Applications for permanent residence in Canada in the category that you have applied have a processing standard of 10 months. If you have not received any instructions from this office by 120 days from the date of this letter, you are requested to contact this office directly. "

Does that mean my passport request is maximum 120 days from the day I got my file no.?

Pretty wired.

Please compare these THREE AOR from Ottawa and Buffalo, let you guys see the different procedure between in OPP and buffalo.  The underlined is from CIC.

The first one was received on Nov, 2011, and she already landed in Feb, 2012;
Second one is mine, you guys know my time line
The last one was received on June, 2011, and she have done MR last Sep, but she is still waiting for PPR

Dear XXX:
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada which was received at the
Buffalo office on September 16, 2011.

Your application is part of a group of files that has been transferred from the Buffalo visa
office to the Case Processing Pilot-Ottawa (“CPP-O”) office to speed up the creation and
processing of your application. All enquiries and correspondence must be addressed to the
CPP-O office, unless directed otherwise.

Processing time
Applications for permanent residence in Canada in the category that you have applied to require on
average 10 months to process at this office. If you have not received any instructions from this
office by 120 days from the date of this letter, you are requested to contact this office directly.

Dear XXX:

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada which was received at the Regional Program Centre (RPC) in Buffalo, on 2011/11/30.
Processing time

Applications for permanent residence in Canada in the category that you have applied have a processing standard of 10 months. If you have not received any instructions from this office by 120 days from the date of this letter, you are requested to contact this office directly.

Dear XXXX,
This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2011/06/06.
Processing times vary. You can consult the processing times for reference at: www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times Please be aware that answering e-mails takes time away from processing applications. For this reason, unless your application has exceeded normal processing times, please limit your correspondence to notifying us of changes in your application.

The difference is the first letter said your file was transferred to Ottawa for speeding up; but visa office did not mention the file was transferred to Ottawa until I found it from my medical exam form.

But compared with buffalo, Ottawa office indicates the days they take maximum to process our files.
Sorry, Not good at English, hope I did not confuse you guys..

Hanyin, I think it should be fine. They were probably too busy to send us emails, as I didn't receive any notification of the transfer from Buffalo either.

To your previous question, yes and no. My understanding is they gave us an approximate timeline of the processing time but i don't think there is any guarantee that you will receive PPR by then. As Khowe said, different files possess different risks, processing time depends on the risk of your file, the higher the longer. If you don't receive PPR within 120 days, you are required to contact them and at that time, they will reply your emails and give you instructions.

Khowe has already received PPR, ours should not take long...

I actually think that everyone sends medicals to Ottawa, regardless of if your application is in Buffalo or Ottawa.  So while they may be asking for you to send medicals to Ottawa, it looks like you application is still in Buffalo.  I think the only way to know for sure is to either contact them (which I wouldn't do at this time as it will just clog the system) or apply for your file notes.

And about the 120 days, I agree with lilbabu that it is not a binding statement.  I think it is actually intended for people who receive AOR without MR and that if they dont get MR within 120 of AOR then they should make contact.  But if you don't hear anything after that time and ecas has not updated then I would probably try and contact them.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!  I will be sure to keep you up to date as I go through the final steps....
