Application 'In Process'

Good Morning to all. My applciation status says 'In Process' on the CIC website. Please tell me if there is anything that i have to prepare on while it is in process. What do the CIC do during this phase? Will they do a background verification by calling my old companies, etc?

Should i call my old companies and make them aware of a call from CIC?

The In process is the link when clicked takes to you under more detailed description of your file for example, when your file reached the Visa office, when was your AOR done, and may be a line that the file has been reviewed with a processing date.
