Sorry if this has been covered but I searched and couldn't find it.
I'm starting to fill out my application forms and the form IMM 5490 sponsored spouse/partner questionnaire, i'm a bit confused over. For example question 9, 'Development of your realtionship' it says use separate piece of paper, therefore have you simply put on the lines provided "see page .... in evidence" or do you have to fill in as much as possible on the lines provided? it seems a bit silly trying to write a lot on 5 lines and then having separate sheets everywhere.
I was thinking of just writing for example "see page 17,18 and 19 for development of relaationship including trips, activities etc" is this ok to do??

No. Others may disagree with me. However, in my opinion, you include the additional information WITH this application form. So in the space provided for #9 you write "see attached" and then include your response on a separate piece of paper as the NEXT page of this form with a heading of QUESTION 9 - CONTINUED. Most people hate having to "look up" stuff. If you want to make a visa officer happy, make their job easy and put the information they ask for at their fingertips.

Thanks for the help.
So all other additional information/evidence, did you just add in extra at the end of the application?

on separate sheet of paper write ur name, birth date, Client ID if u have, application form number, question number. cause if they drop ur papers, they could find easily where this sheet belongs to. sometimes they are really clumsy. believe me. all (as much as u have) extra evidence goes to separate folder. organize ur application in folders. for example - principle applicant; sponsor; proof of relationship etc. write this on folders. u can use transparent paper slips, what i did. one more folder for open work permit if u are applying inland. or visa extension application if u need it. u can print photos on paper or if u send real photos, put them into envelope and name it.

Any folders, clips, etc. that are used to organize a file are immediately removed and recycled by CIC. They have a standard procedure for file organization. Thanks for the help.

Use the Checklists as your guide to how to organize your additional information/evidence. Put everything in the order in which they request it on the checklists.

no wonder that they are loosing some papers, documents, receipts, and sometimes whole application, if they put everything in a pile.

Hi lama21 ,
you should be ok as CIC does sort it and create the application kit themselves according to the check list

The checklist is not the RULE for organization and as long as all the documents are contained within the application it should be fine. My comment is for those who have not submitted yet. CIC wrote the checklist in that format for a reason. I would imagine that it's much nicer to get an application package that doesn't need to be reorganized than one that does.

Are you saying there is some method to the madness ?

I would agree. It's the same thing as taxes -- if you don't staple it just right, they'll still process it. BUT, it might take you longer to get your refund OR they might decide to put you on the audit list. I made a point of including every piece in the order they requested it on the checklist. If a form required an additional sheet, I wrote "please see attached" and at the end of the form (i.e. if the form was 4 pages, the first "please see attached" question would be page 5), stapled any additional clarification pages. For the somewhat "free-form" sections, I included a list of what was there -- e.g. correspondence from her to me, correspondence from me to her, correspondence from others with reference to relationship, etc. Remember the goal is to have smooth processing -- yes, if you submitted it as a bunch of scraps in a shoebox, they might still accept it. BUT, you can bet that the time spent determining the contents and order in which they were to be placed would be reflected in processing time. ESPECIALLY considering that they may decide to just "leave that one for tomorrow" several times. It stands to reason that if you make their job easy, they're more likely to put a stamp on the application sooner. If you clearly satisfy all their requirements, it's far less work for them.

me too, i added this "table of content" to "free form" folder.
