Leon,

Guys,

I want to sponsor my mom. I landed in July 2010 but returned back to Saudi Arabia for work. The same company I am working for has a branch here in Canada and they relocated me here last Dec 2010. Meaning for the past 12 months I have been working with the same company but different location. In the last 12 months my income came from 2 locations, First 10 months in Saudi and the last 2 months in Canada.

For purposes of applying as a sponsor, do you think I can now apply and consider that I am employed in the last 12 months? In the form they require T4, I have payslips and other docs proving my employment in Saudi.

Please advise if I can go ahead and submit my application to CPC - Missisauga.

Thanks.

Nope, you have to be residing in Canada to sponsor your mother.

PMM: I think he is residing in Canada -- and has been since Dec 2010.  Unless I misunderstood his description.

The issue is HOW LONG does he have to have been residing here.

guys i am now permanently residing in Canada since December 2010....as i have said....i have the same employer until now....i have been with then for 5 years....

my only question is do you think they can consider my application if I do it now? 2 mos and counting - working in Canada and 10 months working in Saudi Arabia as a basis in computing my income?

From the CIC web site

Quote
Sponsors (guarantors) are presumed to be able to satisfy their undertaking if in the last 12 months they have had gross income from Canadian sources equal to the SUM of the amount shown in Table 1 and the amount in Table 2 below. These amounts are indexed each year.

If you have not been paid from Canadian sources, then I think you will have to wait.

hmmm....that means i need to wait for another 10 months? Is it necessary that I will have the docs from CRA during my application?

I will be one year on Dec 2011, can i apply that time? or still need to wait?
